Two of Maui’s most charming historic churches are the Keawalai Congregational church on the ocean in Makena and the Episcopal St. Johns Church upcountry.

Your traditional Maui Wedding

at Keawalai Congregational Church:

This is the oldest Hawaiian church on Maui, built in 1832 out of coral and the only one which is directly situated on the ocean. A small Hawaiian cemetery is part of the church grounds. The pastor and Hawaiian minister Kealahou Alika is of Christian faith and conducts a very personal ceremony. He will meet with you prior to your wedding day to familiarize you with Hawaiian Wedding traditions. The church with simple interior of native Koa wood seats 120 guests.

St. Johns Church

in Keokea:

The pitoresque St. Johns Church is situated at 3000 ft elevation in Keokea. It offers space for 50 guests and therefore is the perfect location for a smaller traditional church wedding far away from all the hotels.
